Our Mum, who served as Matron / Chief Nursing Officer until her retirement, left an indelible mark on countless lives throughout her nursing career.
In recognition of her lifelong dedication to serving others and spreading positivity, VAMT is committed to continuing her legacy by making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need and fostering community empowerment.
She pursued her midwifery training at the then Macotta Nursing Training Centre, Abeokuta, completing it in 1954. Following her graduation, she began her nursing career at Baptist Hospital, Ogbomosho, before moving on to the Local Authority Maternity Centre, Iragbiji. Her journey continued as she was employed by the Northern Nigerian Government and stationed at the General Hospital, Offa.
In 1961, Mum seized an opportunity to further her education by studying nursing at Sefton General Hospital in Liverpool, United Kingdom. There, she attained qualifications as a State Registered Nurse and State Midwife. Subsequently, she served as a Nursing Sister at various institutions including Wusasa Mission Hospital in Zaria, General Hospital, Minna and Kwara Polytechnic Medical Centre, Ilorin, where she concluded her career as the esteemed Matron / Chief Nursing Officer after years of dedicated service.
There are numerous avenues for engagement with VAMT, ranging from volunteering your time to offering financial support. Each contribution, regardless of its size, plays a crucial role in positively impacting the lives of those we serve and assist.
